Movie Week
So far this week I have shirked all of my duties except for going to work. I ordered some movies from the library and they all came in at once. Tonight I watched La Vie En Rose, a movie about the singer Edith Piaf. When I heard her voice a long time ago I thought it very strange. Now I am intrigued by it and will be getting a CD by her from the library. She had a very sad life but was blessed with her singing and that brought her joy. The actress who starred in the movie certainly deserved the Oscar that she won!
Last night I had a double feature. First up Mike and I watched the documentary, Crazy Love, which is too bizarre to be true, but it is. Then I watched Notes of a Scandal which was completely engrossing. I think I have about 6 more movies from the library this week! Every night will be movie night around here!

ps..i was at the library today and so wanted to sign up for the kids reading club, i did it every year when i was little and couldnt read enoguh!!

Oh yes, wasn't that an amazing movie?? Laura, go to wikepedia and read about her, because I found that it really helped to understand some parts of the movie a little better. I also enjoyed Notes on a Scandle, but have not seen the other one yet. I just recently saw The Diving Bell and the Butterfly...wow, it was interesting although at times hard to watch. Hope you enjoy all your flicks, and I look forward to hearing about what else you view!
Wasn't that an amazing film? Oh, fabulous. She was unbelievable. We saw it at the theatre and on that big screen. Wow. There was a terrific article in the New Yorker back last summer -- July maybe? -- about her (Piaf), that clarified some of the movie for me, too.
Don't know "Crazy Love" but "Notes on a Scandal" was excellent. How I admire Judi Dench in particular. Have you read her autobiography? It's really fascinating!
summer and the movies go hand in hand....as there really isn't a thing on TV worth watching !
well...maybe SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE....which is worth watching just to hear Mary laugh !
I remember the first time I heard Edith Piaf sing. Appropriately, it was "La Vie en Rose." I remember being captured immediately by this powerful, odd, haunting voice. I listened to her for years and was so excited when the movie came out. It was fabulous, but I found it upsetting, too.
