Weekend Movies

We watched 3 movies this weekend. My favorite was All That Jazz. I originally saw it in the theater in 1979. I was 17 at the time. I wonder why I wanted to see it then? It is not your typical teenage movie. Anyway, it must have made an impression on me because when I saw it this time I remembered lots of things from the first time I saw it. It was really great and has some totally excellent dance numbers that are choreographed by Bob Fosse who also directed the film. The story is based on his life. Ann Reinking is in the movie and does the most gorgeous dancing.... Below are some scenes from the movie. I was glad to find some of the extended dance scenes on You Tube because I am addicted to watching them now. Click here if you want to see the ending dance number.
We also enjoyed Ratatouile. The animation was excellent and the story was quite nice and sweet. Never thought I would feel warmly about a rat, but you just never know what might happen in life right?
Lastly we watched Little Miss Sunshine which was very good, but the weakest of these three movies. Love that Abigail Breslin though and I thought Steve Carell was excellent in this role. So different from his role on "The Office."
Happy work week everyone!

we had a "movie weekend" this weekend too !!!

we watched, "into the wild" which is fabulous in so many ways and makes for a great discussion afterwards....
and then we watched, "Lars and the real girl" which was GREAT. I wasn't sure at the beginning of it....the story was too slow at first....but I stuck with it ended up being a beautiful story !!!

Oh, my. That dance scene was like a time warp. Isn't it fun the way jazz can be interpreted so many ways? It made me want to watch "Chicago" again. The movie we watched this weekend was "Atonement." I thought it was amazing, but it does have the C wordc in it. YIKES!! Be warned.

I saw "All That Jazz" as a "kid" too! My best friend Andrea was a theatre major and dancer so dragged me out to see it. I had a promotional button for the movie. Andrea conned the theatre's ticket taker out of a pair of them for us. She was always doing things like that. heehee

BTW, if you liked "Ratatouile", you might also like "Kung Fu Panda". Jack Black was great as the hero and the movie has a good message. My kids and I saw it last weekend at the theatre. We will definitely be buying it on DVD!

I remember All That Jazz having a sort of darkness. Is that right? I keep thinking I 'should' watch more animation, but I just don't care for it. I watched lots when the kids were little, but wasn't wild about the movies. Didn't think I wanted to see Little Miss Sunshine. Just saw Vantage Point last night and it was very good. Edge of your seat action but also a thinking movie. An event is seen from several views. We both liked it.

All that Jazz is a favorite of mine, too. Haven't seen it in eons -- we were just talking about renting it sometime; then you mention it. That means two nudges!
