Sunday at Home

I have been working on and loving Christmas Typography by Pine Mountain Designs.  It it totally darling and the colors are so bright and cheerful.
I have also been thinking back to my Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow start (which was a long time ago).  I started it on 32 count linen and then I thought I was going to start it again on 36 count linen because I liked the look of that better, but then I decided that stitching on 32 count linen is just so much easier, and therefore, more enjoyable that I will just keep going on it.  So, I got it out today and was getting ready to pick it up again when I discovered that I love every single box of this pattern except for the last one!

Here it is pictured up close.  I don't care for the reference to death.  I just think it kind of brings the happiness factor down.  I know I could just stitch nine of the designs, but I love every single other box except this one.

I am wondering....is there a box in Village of Hawk Run Hollow or Houses of Hawk Run Hollow that might be exchanged for this box?  Are they even the same size?  Let me know if you have any opinions.  Thanks!
As I was bringing out the Christmas decorations I finally found this issue of Just Cross Stitch magazine......I am so excited.  I have been thinking about this very design for months and wondered where my copy of the magazine was!!!!!!

So much to stitch!!!  So little time!!  I guess that is a good problem to have, right????

Hope you all have a great week......

I love the block you're stitching and the cardinal block the best. How about designing your own final block for this piece... maybe a part of a favorite Christmas carol, include family members names or any one to whom you want to dedicate this sampler.

My favorite block is the cardinal.
I was goging to suggest what Laurie said use the lyrics of a Christmas song in the last block.
I love that design from the magazine, I have to go take a look at it again, lol Thanks!!!
Take care!!

Hope you are going to figure out what to do about CaHRH. I think I might find another block that I could live without. You will love the Winter Wind. I did it and just love how it came out.

Love the Christmas Typography piece -- the colors are so much fun! And your Christmas at HRH -- beautiful! I like Laurie's idea to make up your own block. It's easy to just follow the same calligraphy style, grab some graph paper and chart out whatever you want to say. Make a personalized block!

Love your new Christmas start.

Love CaHRH and hope you can find another block to go with it. What if you only did 9 blocks instead of 12? Just a thought...

Have a good week. Hope to see you next Sunday:))

I love that JCS design of Paulette's (though I crack up whenever her alter ego, Marie, is quoted. LOL) and just got some threads to do it. Hopefully this winter!

On CaHRH, the cardinal block is my favorite. I do think the blocks on all the designs are the same. Beyond that, I am clueless about changing things out. I love Laurie's suggestions, though!

I stitched this piece, and just recently got it framed. I omitted the cherub, because I didn't like it. Then I changed the words and had my name and the date I stitched the piece. I'm sure you could eliminate the words you don't like, add your name and date and maybe some crowns or a peacock to fill in....

I like the suggestions but thought I'd throw mine in as well! Maybe you have a special Christmas prayer - or since there is an historic look to the piece, maybe you can find a hymn or carol that was popular then. It's a bit tedious sometimes, but well worth it in the end! I can't wait to see more of it because I'm waffling about buying this one.

Laura. Typography is looking great. I am glad you got Chrh out again. I should get mine out. I think barb can graph different words for you (-:

Good luck figuring out what to do with the last block, Laura! I stitched this last year and left it as was charted, except I changed the cherub to a flesh color rather than a dead gray color... My problem with the piece was the ghoulish looking carolers so I modified them a bit, too. Mine has been done for almost a year now and still isn't framed!!

Love your typography WIP--such fun!

I love your new starts. I agree about the death reference on the CaHRH. Maybe you could find a poem you like or a quote and chart it to fit the space. It's a thought.

I stitched the cardinal block by itself for a secret stitcher gift and it turned out so pretty on its own. I really love Laurie's suggestion of changing the words in the block to a favorite carol or family names, etc. Make it yours! I am just loving this piece, I think I may have to start it sooner rather than later!

Love the start on the L*K. Her designs are so fun! Great stitching on CaHRH. I would just make that last block your own. A carol, quote or prayer that you hold dear.

So much to stitch...so little time. Tell me about it! lol

Love the Pine Mountain series - had not seen that one. I did not purchase the Christmas at HRH so I'm not able to give a suggestion but I bet you could find a nice verse from a favorite christmas carol or something from Dickens and chart out your own block with a holly berry border or something like that. Good luck and enjoy the season - Melody

I think I'd go on an epic hunt for another Carriage House chart--which would involve shopping for a new design, my favorite hobby. Other than that, I like Laurie's suggestion too.

Checking out your blog after seeing it referenced on the 123 Stitch board. How great you got to the Sewing Bee! I'm about 2 hours away, but haven't gone...yet. A stitching friend went and dropped mucho $$$ there so I am afraid, very afraid!
