It all started with......

It all started with this chart.  Actually, it wasn't the chart, rather it was the finish.  My friend Brenda graciously invited us over to see her stitching room (which is pure heaven!) and an added attraction was seeing her finished pieces all over the house.  Brenda is a long time stitcher and she actually finishes projects, frames them and hangs them up!  (I want to be like her when I grow up!!!)    Anyway, she did the above three charts on 25 count Lugana over one and they stole my heart!  I am serious!  I was having heart palpitations just looking at her wee darling little samplers.  I was hooked and had to try this myself!  Stat!

I have been on a Prairie Schooler bandwagon of late (well, always, but recently I have been highly enthusiastic about PS).  I did not have the Garden Sampler chart in my stash, so I thought I would try the 25 over one with this darling Christmas Day chart.
Here is my start!  Isn't it so dear???  I really love stitching over one on evenweave.  Dare I say it?  It is kind of easy (with the right magnification!)
Some of my friends have quite an extensive collection of the PS charts.  Why, oh why did I not just buy every one of them that came out?  Why did I stop stitching for ten years?  What was I thinking??  So, now when I see OOP PS charts I am snapping them up.  Above and below are some new finds.

Moving right along, I saw this darling chart on The Sampler Girl's site......Love it!  I am really hepped up about this summer with the Olympics in London and the Queen's Jubilee.  I hope to see extensive television coverage of both!  I will definitely be stitching The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Sampler this summer.
I had to get this chart to as it features a lovely line from Jane Austen's Emma.  I saw the most recent BBC version recently and it was divine!!!!

Okay, back to the over one stitching!  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  Mike and I are running away down to the Indy 500 this weekend! I can't wait as it is one of my passions........stitching, reading, music and Indy car racing....those are my love.  I have the feeling we are the only race fans who are planning stops at bookstores all the way down to Indianapolis!

Oh, the over 1 PSs are going to be beautiful. Can't wait to see more.

I started my BBD Christmas Garden over...over 1 on 32. Last night I saw my friend's 3 BBD Loose Feathers from last year stitched together over 1...totally awesome!

Have fun!!

Love the over-one PS project! And the Queen's Jubilee is darling! If you haven't stopped there before, Persnickety Stitchers in Zionsville, IN, is worth a stop. Have fun at the race!

Oh, that is going to look darling stitched over one, Laura! I, like you, stopped stitching for 10 years in there, so my collection has a lot of gaps, but I've slowly been building up my PS charts through Ebay purchasing (expensive, but so worth it for these classic designs!!)... Love your newest additions :)

Love your PS start, Laura! Will you stitch them all on one piece of fabric or individually?

PS over one -- it's going to look fantastic! I love all the charts you're stashing. I might have to get the Queen's jubilee one too. lol!

. Your new start looks great. When you start looking at the possibilities of more over-1 stitching, it opens up all sorts of ideas! I have more PS charts than any other designer I think...but I haven't been buying as many the last 2 years. (They do get somewhat repetitive after awhile.) A few years backe I was on a kick to have the entire collection but then I had a reality check LOL. For a few years when everyone was doing those 'neighborhood' round robins the Garden Samplers were going for close to $50 on eBay but have come down now. I've got to go order the QEII chart now that you showed me!

I'll bet the PS samplers look fabulous over one. I gave away all my Lugana and Jobelan but if I find a piece that hid from me, I may give this a try. Have a great weekend!

Oh that PS over one is going to be beautiful. I was going to do the alphabets over one with a SAL group, but I only got through 1-1/2 letters before I petered out, but I did mine one over one and they looked wonderful. Can't wait to see more of yours.

Too bad we've not met before. I live near Indianapolis and would love to meet up with other stitchers in the area! Have a great time at the track and don't forget the sunscreen!

I am so geeked up about the Jubilee I can't stand it! 36 hours in London only added to the expectation.

On another note, thanks for your FB comments on Gypsy. The heart is still broken but the tears are less. Words from friends helps.

glad you can still find PS charts to add to your collection - I have a few here and there and I do have the complete Alphabet series which I wanted to do but alas I have A is for Anchor and that is it ! I'm not much for stitching over 1 but things sure do look awesome done over one. your Sampler Girls stash is awesome. Hope you enjoyed your holiday - mel

I totally know what you mean about being smitten with PS designs! I love how it looks stitched this way. You may have inspired me to give it a try too! Can't wait to see more progress.

Hope you had a good time at the race. We used to go every year when I was a kit. Now we watch it on TV. LOL!

I agree with you - PS always make me happy! I go on e-bay every now and then to look at the oldies, they are all just wonderful!
I can't wait to see how your PS Christmas sampler turns out - you have to show it off once you have hung it on your wall! :-)
