Need Your Help
I need some recommendations. Both of my digital cameras have stopped working. Mike and I did a cursory look at cameras yesterday; and so far I like this one, but it is about $300 so I we did not get it because we need to do more research. I want a camera to take pictures for my blog. I guess a basic point and shoot type of camera is what I am looking for. Could you all give me some ideas of what you think a good blog camera would be?

When I bought my new digital camera, I looked at all of the specifications and the reviews of the cameras at walmart.com. Something with macro takes excellent photos of needlework because you can get it up close without it getting blurry and if you like taking pictures of birds and wildlife a good zoom is something to look for. My camera was about $150 and I got a good macro and 10x zoom but it is a bulky camera. The one I got is a fujifilm finepix s700. Good luck.
laura....the sony cyber shot is what I have used for my point and shoot for 5 years now and I still love it !
if you want something that can pretty much do everything you want....I think this is a good choice and it's small enough to throw in any purse or pocket without a second thought....and has a macro feature.
the only other advice I have is to look at cameras in a camera shop....not best buy or target like stores. In a camera shop they will guide you and let you take photos and compare all the differences between the ones you like without being tethered to the counter top and you'll be able to find the one that "fits" you best.
Hey Laaura! I have a Sony Cybershot and I LOVE it! It's a very easy to use camera and really takes great pics! Good luck.
I love my Pentax Optio. It is slim and portable, and pictures easily move to a variety of formatts. Whats best is that you can edit right from the camera, which means if you were traveling you could edit your shots in the box and go to a cyber cafe and upload! How swell is that! What fun!
Hi Laura, you need a good macro and don't get swayed by cameras that offer 10 mio pixels - that's a total overkill, specially for a blog. I love my Panasonic Lumix because it has a wide lens, but that's up to you, of course. Almost all the photos on our blog is taken with this one.
I love my Cannon SD 1000--I would recommend it to anyone. Easy to use, good photos, easy to carry around. And not too many $$$--under $150.
I bought a Canon Powershot last summer and have been very happy with it. I actually carry it everywhere with me so that I never miss a moment. I've loved it for a point and shoot, but I find myself longing now for a fancier, do-it-yourself rig.
I like my little Olympus FE10, except it's murder on batteries, even the rechargeable ones (especially those). But the photos are good -- especially for the blog; I've been pretty pleased with the macro -- and it's very easy to do.
I'll be following your comments -- I may want to get one with a slightly bigger zoom before Paris.
