Stitching Subculture

Another addiction that many of us stitchers have is Vera Bradley bags. These are some of the bags that were present last Sunday.
To me, Vera bags are a cross between "old lady" bags, quilts, and comfort food. There is something about them that is just so delicious!
I feel really lucky that I have a big Vera bag that I can load my stitching stuff into and head off to Inspired Needle or a friend's home to stitch. I can fit everything I need into the one bag and I think I am pretty cool as I walk around with it.
There are many different styles and patterns to Vera's bags. I heard that on July 8th they are announcing their fall colors! Wooopeee! I am excited!

Now Vera has reading glasses that match some of the bags. I got readers that match my bag!!!! I was so excited! The other cool thing is that I bought the readers at a shop in New Carlisle, Indiana. That is the town where my grandparents are from and it holds a special place in my heart.

Once, when I was visiting my Dad, I was on the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island and saw a fellow Vera wearer. We struck up a conversation just based on the fact that we both had Vera bags.

I think I love all the accessories that go along with stitching as much as I love to stitch!

P.S. Thank you for all of the wonderful comments! I love, love, love reading them and have discovered some great new blogs because of them!

I have never had a Vera bag - I feel deprived! However, I sew all sorts of bags so I guess that substitutes for me LOL. It is funny all the accessories you "need" when you get hobbies like these - quilters are the same way. I have so many different kinds of bags and totes etc - organizing things is almsot half the fun!

I love Vera :-). I got my catalog for the new fall pieces, I am saving it to look through while I drink my coffee this morning, LOL. I did take a quick flip through and new patterns are fabulous.

I love my VB bags for everything... stitching, purse, tote bag for work, backpack for vacation. Very versatile and I love the designs. :) I would love to know which style of VB bag stitchers prefer most. Several people at your stitch in seemed to have the same style although I can't think of the name of it.

Kellie - the bag a lot of us have is named The Vera! It is great because it fits an Ott light and all of your stitching!

I love the description of old lady bag along with the comfort food and oh! Aren't they lovely! One of my favorite stores up north that had quite a collection closed this summer. It was a nice enough store, but it was Vera I was missing, even though I've never had one!

I love The Vera bag! I have several. Of course, I am spoiled by my DH who loves to buy them for me. I choose my patterns based on colors for the seasons so I can change out my bags/purses every few months so as not to wear them out too quickly. My first experience purchasing a Vera bag was at Celebration of Needlework when Sunflower Samplings used to bring large numbers of all sorts of bags and discount them all 40%!! Of course, those days are long gone but it was fun while it lasted!

Hello Laura, I am a virgin to Vera Bradley, but do love her patterns, I love the desk accessories--you know I have always been a school supply dork :) I think one of her bags should be in my future--esp. since my selection is so good right here in town. LOVE all the bags you photo'd. :)
